Nordic POP annual meeting took place in Oslo 14th-16th January 2019
The first Annual Meeting in Nordic POP took place in Oslo on January 14th-16th 2019. It has been a great success - altogether, the meeting gathered 186 participants from all Nordic POP universities plus our collaborating partners from Germany, Polland, and Estonia, who participated actively throughout the entire event with both the oral communications and poster presentations.
The team from University in Oslo took a role as an organizer and chairman of the first Nordic POP annual meeting and they have done a great job. The program was organised with the focus of promoting early career researchers as keynote speakers. PhD-students have been selected among the submitted abstracts for short oral communications and the senior scientists and industrial partners also played an active role in the meeting as a keynote speakers and scientific advisors. The gender balance has was met as well, as it is one of the project quality criteria.
Holmenkollen Park hotel as the event venue provided not only a beautiful view over the Oslo city, but also an advantage of having conference and accommodation held at one place, which intensified the attendance of all presented communications, and the mutual contact of all attendees.
Nearly 100 abstracts were submitted, 27 oral communications and 74 posters presented, making the first annual meeting a big and important event, It is also an important tool and a milestone for further research cooperation, as it provided researchers with a possibility of mutual connection, face-to-face discussion, multiple feedbacks, and a field for brainstorming.
