Polymers in Pharma PhD-course gathered Nordic POP participantscoming from Norway, Finland and Sweden at

The PhD-course gathered 15 Nordic POP participants, mainly PhD students and a couple of master students, at Chalmers Technical University in Gothenburg from 7.-11. November 2022 to an intensive week of science. The course participants were coming from Norway, Finland and Sweden. They were exposed to a full program of lectures focusing on polymers in different states, their use and characterization methods. There was laboratory excursions to the local labs, the Chalmers Materials Analysis Laboratory (CMALS) and a site visit to AstraZeneca. Also, the social program was engaging.

  • Polymer basics – Anette Larsson, CTU
  • Polymers in Pharma and their use in formulations – Ingunn Tho, UiO
  • Polymers and NMR – Hampus Karlsson, CTU
  • Polymers in solution and gel – Anna Ström, CTU
  • Solid state polymers and scattering analysis – Anders Madsen, UCPH
  • Solid state formulations – Polymers in oral drug delivery – Thomas Rades, UCPH
  • Polymer-based particles – Marianne Hiorth, UiO
  • Polymeric nanoparticles – Alexandra Stubelius, CTU
  • Melt processing of formulations – Anette Larsson, CTU

For those who wanted to have recognised the ECTS, there was a project work and exam included. This took place on November 29th, where to teams (Company A and B) presented and discussed their plans for development projects in a digital event.

The course provided nice opportunities for networking and start of new collaborations.
