Astrid’s research centres on developing targeted and controlled delivery systems that enable the effective and safe delivery of drugs to ocular tissues. In particular, we are studying new ways to transport drugs across biological barriers and facilitate their targeted delivery to the site of action inside the eye. Our expertise also includes pharmaceutical nanotechnology and RNAi therapy. Astrid’s research has led to > 15 peer-reviewed papers published in established international pharmaceutical and materials science journals. She is Guest Editor in the theme issue Ocular Drug Delivery of the European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).
